I run birding and wildlife watching tours to rainforests of West Papua to watch birds of paradise as well as other tropical birds in Wondama regency; Waigeo island of Raja Ampat; Malagufuk village and Klatomok village in Sorong regency; Tambrauw Mountains, and Arfak mountains, as well as Sulawesi and Maluku islands in Indonesia. I also like art, so, readers will see drawings and paintings in this blog too.
Eclectus Parrot (Eclectusroratus) is a species of bird that is native to New Guinea and its surrounding islands. The male is green and the female is red. Local people in West Papua call them kakaktua hijau and kakaktua merah.
The bird can be watched in lowland rainforest of Waigeo island in Raja Ampat, Klasow valley of Sorong regency. The followings are pictures of Eclectus Parrot that I took this morning in the forest of Manokwari. This parrot is a prolific seed dispersers, so, it also plays important role in maintaining the growth of rainforest.
